Hydrotherapy

Physiotherapy in Water

Who benefits the most?

Hydrotherapy is great for children who are aiming to build strength, increase flexibility, manage pain, and/or improve endurance.

Buoyancy allows kids to practice their mobility and skills with more independence. For example, some kids cannot walk on land by themselves, but they can in water! Warm water also helps kids to stretch their muscles and manage discomfort during exercise to make exercising easier.

What to Expect

  • Sessions are led by a physiotherapist or an allied health assistant (AHA) who will carry out a program created by a physiotherapist
  • Sessions are 50 minutes long
  • Physiotherapist led sessions will be located at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre
  • AHA led sessions can be at a public pool located near you.

Ask your physiotherapist how hydrotherapy can support your child's development.
